Seems to work well, some minor quibbles,
This transformer has worked admirably so far. I used it on a trip to India, and it worked well. It doesn’t make any noise while in use, and it seems to stay reasonably cool. Not like I’m drawing all that much wattage through it, but it seems to be just fine.
Just a few quibbles:
1. The 110-volt North American plug offered on the front of the unit has a spot for a grounding prong, but the unit itself is not grounded. I still cannot fathom the logic of that design choice. Especially in India, where European plugs are *required* to have a grounding prong. You can’t get a plug like this one into the outlet without one; the outlets have an internal safety device that only opens when a grounding prong is inserted into the outlet. Sadly, the only way I could get this to work in India was to insert a pen in the grounding prong hole to release the safety and then insert the plug into the power holes.
2. The only justification I could find for not having a grounded unit is that the unit is fuse-protected. But they don’t tell you what kind of fuse is required, and the fuse is located *inside* the unit, such that you would need a screwdriver to open the unit to replace the fuse. If it is going to be fuse-protected, the fuses must be user-replaceable, and need to be easily accessible without the use of tools, which I’d rather not carry around with me when I’m traveling internationally. (See EDIT below)
As far as the usability goes, it works as designed: it takes 230-240V power and steps it down to 110V power, offering you a North American power outlet. It’s reasonably small and lightweight in comparison to some other transformers, but that’s because it handles a much lower wattage. You have to be careful about the application that this will be used for: works well for laptops, phone chargers, electric razors, etc, but don’t plug anything into it that draws over 200W, like your curling iron or hairdryer, as you’ll fry the transformer instantly. And the lack of a grounded power plug and the internal fuse are poor design choices which nearly limits the functionality of the unit to the point where it’s almost worth it to pay a little more for a better-designed unit.
For the price, it was worth it for me. Just make sure you understand the application for which it will be used before you buy it.
EDIT: I found out two new things about this unit that are very interesting.
1. There is NO INTERNAL FUSE, regardless of what the documentation says. Opening the unit up and poking around clearly reveals this.
2. The grounding prong hole on the front of the unit is not connected to anything on the inside; the unit does not ground the item plugged into it, nor does it attempt to.
So not only is the grounding plug on the front misleading, so is the documentation. As I mentioned earlier, for the price, it does what you’d expect. In other words, you get what you pay for.

|Worked fine and not too bulky,
If you are going to Europe and want a step-down converter, this will do the trick. I used on my trip to Spain. It’s not as big as others.
I used it to charge my camera & iPhone and it worked great.
My girlfriend also used it for her hair straightener and that worked fine as well. Other girls on my trip used a simple adapter and ended up frying their straighteners and/or burning their hair.
So ladies, make sure you buy a converter and not a simple adapter!

|Can’t deliver on the most important…,
Seems to work fine thus far, but despite supposedly having the same specs as the charger for my HP Touchpad, it doesn’t put out enough juice to charge it. That’s disappointing for a product that is sold on its ability to charge a tablet.

|Cosmos USB 4-port,
Its cheap and does as described. But the LED light when its on is very irritating at night. I’m using this to charge my Ipad2,Iphone4,bluetooth speaker & another iphone4 and it does the job.

|3 day adapter,
The adapter work only 3 days! Also seems that it is not original. All the time I need to check is it really charge or not the iPhone. At first I thought that it was because of the cable, but finally it is adapter problem.

|Initially 5 stars, reduced to 3.5 over 3 months of use,
This is one of the primary cases you will see at Best Buy, if you choose to buy this in the store. There are several issues with this case that may not be initially evident, even when you inspect the case in person.
I’ve had this case for three months and I purchased this case due to its protection and the ability to set my iPad up as a stand for typing and video watching. I’ll list the pros and cons before concluding.
Pros -
1- Protection – protects the iPad better than most cases I have seen. It has a supple interior that will not scratch the screen and the cover is cushioned to protect the iPad well.
2- Works as a stand – It only has 2 options for viewing, but the two are well chosen (one for typing, one for video watching.)
3- Sturdy as a stand – I have never had the iPad collapse due to the stand’s failure. Two trenches are well built to support the folding into a stand. Very nice design.
4- Comfort – The cushioned interior makes holding the iPad during reading comfortable.
5- Secures iPad – My iPad has never hinted at falling out of this case.
Cons -
1- External Durability – The case “leather” has begun to wear through already.
2- Internal Durability – The cushioned interior is great for comfort, but it soaks up dirt and oils from your hands when you have it flipped open. Then, it transfers said dirt onto the screen of your iPad. I have to clean my iPad after it has been sitting overnight. The inside cover stains dark blue (from the original light blue), making it somewhat unsightly. I’ve tried washing it, but this helps only minimally, and the interior material is not durable for continued washing. The interior material should not be absorbent! This is my BIGGEST CRITIQUE and HEADACHE with this case. (and why I plan on replacing it soon)
3- Elastic Closure – To close the case, an elastic band stretches over the front. While mine has not broken, my band is showing signs of wear. There are 4 points where it connects to leather, making four locations where it can separate easily.
4- How it holds the iPad – A substantial piece holds the non-volume-button side of the iPad, and it stays out of the way of video while holding it securely. The other two corners have flimsy leather pieces that go over each corner. While my iPad has never hinted at falling out, one of the leather pieces covers the power button. Through constantly pushing this button over 3 months, this piece appears to be loosening. Over time, this piece will fail and the iPad may slip out of the case.
5- Weight – This case is heavy. I don’t mind this that much, as I like that it protects my iPad. But, over time, holding the iPad gives you the “Gorilla Arm” Steve Jobs mentions as to why he won’t make his Mac desktops/laptops have touch screens. The case is said to be 7.7 ounces, but this is incorrect. The weight is double this (around 1 pound), and it gets heavier the more things the interior absorbs.
6- Price – The case is overpriced. However, when it comes to protecting your $500 to $830 investment, an extra $20 to $30 is a minimal expense.
(Note: Only issues 5 and 6 were recognized when I originally purchased this case. The other 4 “Cons” developed through normal use. And, I tend to baby my electronics…)
The absorbent material on the inside of the case is both a pleasure initially and a curse as time wears on. If it was not absorbent, picking up dirt (including natural body oils), discoloring and transmitting said dirt to the screen of my iPad, I would likely continue to use this case for a longer time. It has a lot of promise, despite being heavy.

|The ultimate iPad case,
Finally – the search for the perfect iPad case is over. I have looked at every iPad case I could find (in person) and bought several on Amazon and the auction site that I returned. Nothing was what I was looking for. Most of the “leather” cases were plastic, the ones that were real were cheaply made or very thin, and most had some problem with fit, finish, or functionality.
This case is different. It is made from REAL leather and very well constructed, and has a lifetime warranty. It feels very substantial. Everything about this case says “quality”. Not a surprise, since Targus is the world’s #1 laptop case manufacturer. I have had several of their products over the years and they have always been top notch.
The system that secures the iPad into the case is excellent – none of the controls are blocked, and it cradles the device perfectly and firmly. The case turns into an adjustable stand that allows hands-free viewing of movies or other media. The padding on the thick supple leather case is excellent, providing good protection for the screen. The cover folds all the way back easily with no resistance, which makes holding the iPad easy and secure – they can be pretty slippery without a case.
My only complaint is they chose to use a strap to hold it closed instead of a snap – a snap would have been simpler and faster to open/close.
I had two iPad owners on an airline flight yesterday come up and ask me where I had gotten it, and both said it was a lot better then the cases they had bought.
I’m delighted with this product. A high quality case from a name you know and trust, with a lifetime warranty – what more could you ask for?
